Berwick v Isle of Wight

The first day of the Islanders two day tour saw them at Berwick, home of the Berwick Bandits. The meeting started in perfect conditions until just before heat 8 when the rain suddenly hammered down for nearly half an hour. A long delay was taken and the track was graded but the consistent rain ruined all effort put in by the track staff. The rain then stopped and after a discussion in the pits the riders for heat 8, this including Chris went out on track for a practice. The track looked very bad and the riders struggled on the wet, slippery track.

Heat 8 was then run and you could see the riders struggling for vision and grip on track. After the race another discussion took place and the riders agreed to ride on until heat 12. However after heat 12 the referee made the riders continue all the way to heat 15 as he said the track was getting better!
