Isle of Wight v Glasgow

The Islanders took on the Glasgow Tigers on Tuesday night at the Smallbrook Stadium for their Premier League clash. The Islanders won the match showing their dominant home form.

Chris had a good nights racing collecting paid 11 points from 5 rides including a win and a paid win. Chris seemed to be gating well all night which was putting him in good positions in the races.

Heat 2 was a good solid ride from Chris gating ahead of the rest and pulling clear for the win.

The best ride for Chris came in heat 4 where he made a good start with fellow team partner and was on for a 5-1 when Trent Leverington came up the inside of him on the 3rd and 4th bend on lap 2. Chris then returned the favor on turns 1/2 by swooping around the outside of the Tiger to regain second place.

Mystery carb troubles hampered Chris in heat 8. As he was pushed out from the pits his bike started then suddenly came to a hault. He was then pushed off again and the bike started fine and no problem could be found. However after making a lightening start on the 2nd bend the bike slowed allowing David McAllan around the outside. Chris got going again and was chasing the Tiger but couldn't make up any ground.

The next two rides saw Chris gain paid seconds for his team, one ride was as a reserve change for Andrew Bargh who seemed to be having an off night.

Worcestershire Winner Cancelled

Chris was suppose to ride in the Worcestershire Winner Grasstrack on Sunday but due to flooding of the field the organisers had to cancel the meeting.

Birmingham v Workington

Chris was called up to ride for Workington at Birmingham on wednesday as a guest replacement for the injured Italian Mattia Carpanese at Number 2 in the Workington team.

This was the first time Chris had ever ridden at second string in the Premier League and had a good meeting on his first visit to Perry Barr.

Chris had some good moments leading Ostergaard in heat 1 for 3 laps until the Dane passed Chris round the Outside when Chris made a mistake.

Chris was also on a 5-1 in heat 8 with partner Charles Wright until Wright had an engine failure on the last lap coming out the turn and Chris had to take avoiding action and had to turn the bike hard up the straight. This allowed Birmingham rider Hauzinger through into first with Chris clinching second.

Isle of Wight v Somerset

Somerset were the visitors to the Isle of Wight on tuesday for their Premier League match. A match that on paper looked to be a very close encounter between the two teams but the score line proved otherwise. The Islanders were strong and pulled off a 59-34 score which one them the meeting and should be enough for the bonus point in the return match later on in the season.

Chris didn't have the best night after starting well he then had some bad luck. In heat two he sat behind his team mate for an untroubled 5-1 heat advantage. In heat 4 Chris missed the gate completely but went straight for the dirt on the outside and swooped past Danny Warwick coming out turn two and claimed third spot.

In Heat 8 Chris made a great start only to pick up drive entering the turn on the patchy track. He drifted wide but not wide enough as Stephan Katt got around the outside coming out the turn. Chris the chased down the Rebel and looked like he was going to pass him until he picked up on the outside on bends 1-2 and heading straight into the fence.

Chris appeared out for his next heat only to suffer an engine failure before the start and was excluded on two minutes.

Newport v Isle of Wight

The Islanders trip to wales today was called off early this morning due to heavy rainfall causing a waterlogged track. More rain was forecast meaning there was no hope in trying to stage the fixture.

Weymouth v Isle of Wight

The return leg at Weymouth on Friday was cut short due to the weather with persistent rain became too heavy after heat 13 for the meeting to continue. This meant the overall scores ended 71 - 100 on aggregate to the Isle of Wight with the Islanders winning both meetings.

Chris had a mixed night with two paid wins and a fall. The night was used to test the new Finn Jensen carb he has been given to try and in the first couple of heats found the bike was spinning too much. Chris fell in his second ride after picking up some unexpected grip on the 3rd turn.

Chris said "The track was very slick and there was no dirt to use and my bike was far too powerful. i tried a few setups with the bike and in the 3rd ride seemed a lot better. i changed the setup ready for the last ride and I'm sure that would have been really good but i never got too try because of the rain."

The Isle of Wight had a blank fixture for this Tuesday so invited the Weymouth team to come and race in a Conference Challenge. The Islanders team were without their top riders and had guests in to fill up the team.

It was a good meeting with some close racing which has set up the return leg to be another exciting prospect.

Chris had a good meeting scoring 11 points from four rides and only being beaten by the wildcats top man Lee Smart. Chris set too fast race times amongst his rides with a 68.8 and a 68.9. These were the second and third fastest times of the night.

Stoke v Isle of Wight

The Islanders made the journey up to Stoke on Saturday night for the return fixture of their Premier League Clash. It was a close match throughout until the Potters took the lead near the middle of the meeting and extended it to 12 points in the end.

Chris had a good meeting with all things considered. Heat 2 was re-run 3 times after team mate Bargh fell on the 3rd turn. Then Hargreaves bought down Chris on the 1st turn. Then third time lucky Chris made the start and lead all the way.

In Heat 4 Chris made a great Start and was leading Stoke heat leader Rusty Harrison when the red lights came on the third lap. The race was then re-run. Chris made another good start and was leading until he made a mistake on the third bend which allowed Harrison to get passed and Chris settled for 2nd.

In Heat 8 Chris and team mate Gathercole made the start and as they entered turn 3 Hargreaves dive bombed Chris and took him into the safety fence. Chris was down on the floor for a while as he couldn't move his leg properly as it seemed like he had a 'dead leg'. Strangely the lady referee excluded Chris! and everyone found this strange even the opposition team and management.

A very stiff and sore looking Chris appeared in heat 14 and was very unlucky not to have came third behind his team partner. Chris was in third all the race until Evans beat him to the finish line coming out of the 4th turn.

Heavy rainfall caused this fixture to be postponed until 7th September. All the riders had made the journey to the track to watch the rain continue to fall and be told the meeting was off.

Isle of Wight v Edinburgh

The Islanders demolished the Monarchs last tuesday at Smallbrook Stadium winning 67-24. Their was some good racing despite the score line and bad weather making the track very wet and slippery.

All the Islanders had good scores apart from the skipper Jason Bunyan who suffered with bike problems throughout the night.

Chris had a good meeting scoring paid double figures. He was involved in some good tussles and 1st turns and did very well on the wet track.

03.07.07

The Isle of Wight Islanders took on the Rye House Rockets on Tuesday night in their Knock Out Cup Quarter Final match. The Islanders didn't have the best of luck and lost a few points due to machinery problems slowing riders during the races. The Islanders did manage to gain a 12 point lead from the match so it means the return leg at Hoddeston in August will be an exciting one.

Chris had an up and down night on Tuesday. In heat 2 he came third behind his team mate. He didn't look his usual self and this was because he was trying an engine he doesn't usually ride on the Island.

After making sum changes he did mange to win heat 8 and in a very fast time of 67.9 seconds. Which is the fastest time Chris has ever set around the Smallbrook Stadium.

He said "I wanted to try different engine as its better on the slick but it simply wasn't fast enough so i had to change bikes for the second ride, The setup on my second bike wasn't right either so we changed that and i won heat 8 in a very fast time. Then in my last ride i was squeezed out by the fence on the off camber and that was that really."
